996 Large Stabilized Wood Bobbin

Large Stabilized Wood Bobbin.         length: 20.5cm

                 It tempting to give this bobbin a name.  This colour combination always reminds me of a spectacular map in the  Doge`s Palace in Venice.  The pale wood is where the burr is too dense to take up the coloured resin when it is in the vacuum chamber. The head, cap and button are in stabilized maple burr and the stem is English Box.   The details are in casein ivory (a resin from the milk protein casein) and black casein. The tip is in Nickel Silver.
