1047 Needle Pod with Stabilized Wood

Needle Pod.            length: 12cm

This pod has a base made from Blackwood and a top from a piece of stabilised maple burr tinted a cool yellow.  These pieces have been matched together as two understated woods.  On closer inspection the complex detail of the top reveals itself with tight cells, waves of slab grain and punctuations of dark inclusions.  The bases dark grain reveals classic, deep grain loops that shimmer when seen in daylight and gently rotated.  The finish is a soft gloss and the fittings are in brass.
